Ansight SDK

branding/logo.png

Ansight gives coding agents the runtime evidence to verify their own work in your mobile or macOS app. The SDK runs inside a development build and streams what the app actually did to a local host on your machine. Your agent reads that evidence through the ansight CLI, so it can inspect a live screen, reproduce a bug from a report, run a release test suite, and check performance against an acceptable range, all against the running app instead of guessing from code. People review the same sessions in a browser-based local player. Nothing leaves your machine unless you export or share it.

Captured while the app runs

  • Screenshots, periodic or on demand, and host-owned simulator and emulator capture
  • Visual trees with framework-aware inspection: MAUI pages and bindings, Flutter widgets, React components, and WebView DOM, alongside native views
  • Touches and pen input: taps, drags, Apple Pencil and Android stylus/eraser contact, pressure, tilt, direction, and supported hover, aligned to frames
  • Logs from the app, plus SDK diagnostics
  • Crashes and unhandled errors, native and framework, with a durable outbox that hands the previous session's crash to the next launch
  • HTTP requests
  • Screen views, navigation, and app lifecycle events
  • App events, custom metrics, and sampled memory, FPS, frame timing, and battery
  • Opt-in app-fed shake and accelerometer events
  • Session properties and device and app profiles

Available on request, through guarded tools

  • App state through registered-root reflection
  • Preferences and secure storage
  • Sandboxed files, and SQLite discovery, schema, and read-only queries
  • File-descriptor and JNI reference diagnostics
  • Artifact exports your app defines, such as network traces or support bundles
  • Your own custom tools, exposing app-specific diagnostics and domain state
  • Annotated in-app feedback and startup profiling on .NET

SDKs in this repository, all in beta:

  • .NET and MAUI (src/dotnet)
  • iOS and macOS Swift (src/ios)
  • Android (src/android)
  • React Native and Expo (src/react-native)
  • Flutter (src/flutter)
  • Capacitor (src/capacitor)

The Android, iOS, React Native, Capacitor, and Flutter SDKs mirror the same native runtime, host connection, telemetry, screenshot, touch capture, and remote-tool protocol used by the .NET SDK.

Pen details travel with the existing touch records. Apple Pencil reports available force, altitude, azimuth, roll, coalesced samples, estimated updates, and hover; Android styluses report available pressure, tilt, orientation, distance, button state, and historical samples. Hardware-dependent values are omitted when unavailable. See the touch wire format.

Flutter macOS uses the Swift runtime plus Flutter-owned compositor, widget-tree, frame-timing, and pointer capture. Native AppKit screenshots, AppKit visual-tree inspection, and AppKit touch capture outside AnsightFlutterCaptureBoundary are not yet available.

Current SDK features include:

  • live and retained metrics, events, lifecycle, screen-view, memory, FPS, and battery telemetry
  • automatic local-host registration for simulators, emulators, and desktop apps, plus one-scan enrollment for physical devices
  • live screenshots, host-owned simulator/emulator capture, touch capture, session properties, device profiles, and app-provided logs
  • HTTP request capture with app-configurable and mandatory native sanitization; request and response bodies are excluded
  • guarded native tools for UI, files, file descriptors, preferences, secure storage, SQLite, reflection, and framework-specific inspection
  • custom remote tools and requestable app artifact providers on every SDK
  • .NET MAUI automation, Debug-only native annotations across mobile SDKs, and offline capture, export, and team upload workflows
  • React component/shadow-tree inspection, React Navigation tracking, and JavaScript error capture
  • Capacitor WebView DOM inspection and actions, route/lifecycle tracking, JavaScript tools, artifacts, and error capture
  • Flutter widget-tree inspection, navigation and lifecycle tracking, Dart tools and artifacts, frame timing, and framework error capture, including macOS desktop builds

All SDKs start the same runtime connection loop when activated. Start the local host with ansight host run; no account is required. A simulator, emulator, Mac Catalyst app, or desktop app registers through loopback without a QR or build-time configuration. For a physical device, run ansight pairing issue --qr and scan the one-use QR from the SDK's developer-only enrollment UI. The app then reconnects from private registration state. If the host is unavailable, the SDK retries without affecting the app.

Important: Screen capture is not free. Periodic or manual screenshot/JPEG capture will result in an FPS drop while frames are being rendered, encoded, and transported. Keep it scoped to local development or QA runs, and disable it for performance measurements unless visual evidence is required.

Purchase diagnostics

The base SDK supports opt-in purchase observations and remote validation across .NET, Swift, Kotlin, React Native, Capacitor, and Flutter. See integration and tool contracts.
